My best advice when it comes to illnesses that are difficult to diagnose, lymes disease for instance, is to find yourself a medical doctor that also practices Traditional Chinese Medicine. This physician should possess, and be fluent in the operation of, a Zoll or similar other brand of electro acupuncture device. This isn't the proper forum to discuss particulars, so feel free to send a PM. I'll get you pointed in the right direction.
AFA the pond goes, I've spent a bit of time over the past few days trying to catch YP from my pond with no results. Been using nightcrawler bits, but I'm thinking it might be time to try something else. Waxies or crappie nibbles or maybe even some FHM. Augie, if you feed the fish, try Stubby Steve's. Put one piece on a #8 or #10 Owner Mosquito hook, 2# or 4# test line and toss it out when you toss out a handful of pellets. No weight, no bobber. If the line twitches where it enters the water, set the hook. Stubby Steve's pellets don't swim on their own.........

Agree with Esshup re Stubby Steves
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

During the warm months when I'm feeding Optimal I make my own pellet flies. All it takes is a pellet, a small piece of pantyhose material, and a few seconds to wrap the pellet and stick a hook through the pantyhose.
This time of year my pond is usually under ice. It's been on and off this year.
I'll toss a handful of pellets next time I'm out there. That gets their attention when the water's warm. It might work when the water's cold. Only one way to find out.

I'm in Cole County and did a little fishing in my pond off my dock yesterday. I caught a bucket of bluegill and tried to catch catfish using bluegill scraps to no avail. My catfish aren't even a year old in my pond yet but they got upwards of 17 in. last fall and the only way I caught them then was to mash up some of the feed into cloth and put a hook through it. I like the pantyhose idea and will be trying that sometime as it warms. I am guessing it stays on the hook better? I had a hard time keeping the food in the cloth as the bluegill would pound it out in less than a minute.

I know you've heard it before, but in my experience nothing catches fed BG like a Stubby Steve. Also LMB and HSB!
Trout love them too, if you have any during the winter. But trout are much more careful to look things over before biting, takes a tiny covered hook on ultra light fluorocarbon line to fool them. They would charge madly for my Stubby Steve on 4lb mono, then halt abruptly a few inches from the bait. Other fish had no such hesitation!

I looked at the pond and lamented on how low the water level was. Not looking good for the rest of the winter, not much precip predicted.

I am interested but unfamiliar with the lure you are talking about. I did a search for Stubby Steve's and there's a number of baits on the site. There is a variety of colors of a pellet type bait/lure that requires your own hook. Is that what you are talking about?

I'm getting tired of looking at my pond with disappointment with the water level as well. When I do get rain it stops about time things get wet enough to start getting run off. The rains are to small and to far in between and I never see anything very promising in the forecast.

It is designed to look, smell, sink, and taste like a food pellet. You tear off a pellet sized piece, squeeze it on the hook.

Three cormorants showed up today and two left…… Good to hear that you still have some LMB with a gape size sufficient to consume cormorants!

9 months after the bulldozers arrived on site: FULL POND with water exiting the spillway. Time to celebrate, so we drank a bottle of the wine we make every year. Next up: April stocking. This took a lot longer than I thought it would/should. Glad to be here.

Thanks, the 2021 was good but the 2022 could be better.
So relieved to be at this point after 9 long months.
I should add that I owe a dept of gratitude to Pond Boss, the learnings of Bob Lusk, and forum members who made suggestions when we hit gravel veins during excavation. It looks like it is holding (when water is coming in at least)

This took a lot longer than I thought it would/should. Glad to be here. What took longer then you thought, the bottle of wine or the pond filling up? 9 months is not bad at all. you're gonna need to sell a bottle or two of that wine to pay for the amount of money it will take to stock it. Looking great! a lot of nice shore line.

Thanks gehajake. Answer is Both. I was focused on the pond and didn't bottle the 2021 until fall of 2022. We don't sell the wine we just drink lots of it.
The shoreline of this 1-1/4 acre pond is almost that of a 3 acre circle.
