Big Tex is one of the most cherished things in Texas, and is right up there with the Alamo, and the mayor of Lajitas, Clay Henry. I was privileged enough to drink a beer with the original Clay Henry while on a water rescue school in 1992, and now Clay Henry IV is mayor. Not sure if he drinks his beer from a can or bottle, but Clay Henry I preferred bottles. I was at the fire station, and I got this picture from a buddy that got dispatched to put Big Tex out. Big Tex had internal wiring for one arm, and his mouth, and there was a short near the bottom. He burnt up like a dried out cedar, and there was really nothing that could save him, so this picture is the only thing that Engine 6 had to show for their run. AL
