North Texas Municipal Water District is almost finished with a new 16,000 acre lake north of us which will challenge Lake Fork's top ranking. Besides all the regular habitat enhancements, they're putting in over 4 miles of aeration hoses. Smaller lakes have had this in the past, but I don't remember it being done on lakes this big. Money ain't a bad thing.

Bois d'Arc aeration

That's pretty cool. I have heard of big lakes having aeration installed, but that is the biggest LOX system that I've seen being used for aeration (vs ambient air).

When and with what will it be stocked?

You may want to get the bass boat cleaned up and ready to go in about 3-4 years. LOL

Now that Sunil is out of your will - you might as well spend it while you still got it!

Any chance that lake would be a good spot to host a Pond Boss get-together in Spring 2025 or Fall 2025?

Just throwing spitballs out there for long term planning ideas!

Nope. He'd just leave it all at a computer store.

Make jokes, but you're missing out on a slightly used ginsu knife set, a bag of salted peanuts, a 2 liter bottle of RC Cola, and 47 wheat pennies. Ain't so funny now is it.

That will be a blackland lake, more like Cooper than Fork I'm afraid.

Al....I didnt read every tab on the link your provided. Do you think they are leaving a lot of standing timber in large parts of Bois d’Arc Lake like they did with Fork? I can remember being on Lake Fork in the early days and being in such thick woods in trees that were still alive when we looked up we couldn't see the sky the trees/leaves were so thick. It was kind of surreal to be out in the middle of a lake in crazy thick still living woods that were recently flooded as the lake filled. Lake Fork was pretty special during its heyday. I have more memories on that lake than any other. I hear it's a pretty thick "traffic jam" of boats a lot of times now.

edit: I did find this in the link...maybe they are leaving a good chunk of standing timber in the new Bois d’Arc Lake:

If they use Bois d'Arc trees for structure, they will, to quote Bob Lusk, "last for a hundred years and then turn into a rock."

Theo, My dad used to say, when using them for fence post, that the posts will outlast the post holes, I'm not sure about that but I do know them darn things got so hard after many yrs that you couldn't drive a fence staple into them. I know, I crushed many a thumb and forefinger when I was a kid trying to drive staples into them damn things.
