Happy birthday buddy.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Thanks for all the Bday friendly greetings for another year. Today I had some friends come and catch the first round of tilapia. Largest we measured was 14". Largest stockers back in early June were 6.5-7".

esshup asks "How did you catch them (tilapia)?" The tilapia come and aggressively eat fish pellets at evening feeding time. My pond has mainly YP that are mostly idle in deep water during mid-day. A couple days prior to fishing for them,,,, I added a handful of pellets mid-day to condition the tilapia to a mid-day feeding. Then for catching the tilapia I soften fish food to the moisture where you can roll the pellets into round soft balls. Two anglers caught around 30 tilapia in about 2 hrs. After about 1.5hrs the tilapia avoided the area where the anglers were fishing. This seems normal behavior for tilapia. It will take a several days until tilapia are back feeding heavily and anglers can return and catch more tilapia. The anglers have been cooking them by grill-smoking the tilapia and says they are excellent fixed this way.
