My pond slopes off quickly and is 4’ deep within feet of the banks. The land slopes slightly towards the pond. I have a good amount of yellow flag iris growing on the bank and the rest are either a few cat tails, joe pye weed, or goldenrod. The problem comes from an inability to mow (easily) to the ponds edge to keep the weeds in check.
My question is what is a good “grass” to plant that will make maintenance a bit easier. (Ideally not having to get off my zero turn) but not something that grows too tall?
Any suggestions?

A commercial Stihl weedeater or a sickle bar mower is my first thought.
