Try suspending your traps above the pond bottom.

The minnow trap openings should be parallel to the shoreline too.

Hello. Thank you for your answers. I think I found a solution, last night I used the light. Crayfish flee light and minnow (Fathead minnow) are attracted to light. This morning there were plenty of minnows and no crayfish in my trap. ![[Linked Image from i.ibb.co]](https://i.ibb.co/nC7Q1Vf/IMG-2463.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i.ibb.co]](https://i.ibb.co/xDKB7dC/IMG-2465.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i.ibb.co]](https://i.ibb.co/7Sv0B6K/IMG-2475.jpg) A+

Now that is a "bright" idea, pun intended!

azteca,
Did your chemlight method work to catch minnows and exclude crayfish?
Did you also bait the trap, or just use the light source?

Hello.
It doesn't work very well, because of the newts the water is not very clear.
So you can barely see a glow, the spot works better. A+
