Usually weedeat around my pond , but trying to weedeat slope of dam area is a killer on my back . I never wanted to use any weed killer because I didn't want to get it in pond . Is there anything that can control weeds around pond that would be safe for fish if some got in water ? Really don't want to buy goats , LOL

I'm no expert, but if you check chemical weedkiller labels you should be able to find one that is safe around water. Even so, in your shoes I'd only apply on a calm, sunny day with no rain forecast for at least 72 hours.

Shore-Klear is something you can use. It's a glyphosate based pond rated herbicide.

Treating Johnson grass on a pond shoreline is a tough one. Pastora is what we use in our hay meadows to kill Johnson grass, and it works great, but it's label recommends no runoff into a pond for 3 months. Weedar 64 is a 2 4-D product that's good for broad leaf weeds around a pond, but it won't kill Johnson grass.
Maybe use a BBQ mop, and treat each plant with a glyphosate? Cutting the seed heads off before they drop will help stop the spread also.

Maybe try the hippie way and use a vinegar salt solution?

Glyphosate that will kill pond plants will kill terrestrial grass. Use dish soap or standard surfactant.
