I was fly fishing with my grandson today and we caught 4 Lg Mth Bass in my farm pond. I fillet 3 of the bass and noticed little yellow bumps in the meat of the fish about the sixe of 2 #2 pencil tips. each fillet had 3-4 of thses yellow bumps, almost looks like big pimples. Can anyone tell me what they are? What causes them and are they dangerous for consumption? I froze them but until I can determine what they are I will not eat them. The bass in the pond were stocked 4 yr ago along with channel cats and bluegill.

The yellow spots are parasites. If you cook the fish it should be fine. I usually cut out these spots when I fillet the fish. If you use the search, you can find more infomation on how these get into your fish.

Richard -- go to the following web site.

http://www.conservation.state.mo.us/fish/aquaguides/

Then, click on "what's bugging my fish" and it will explain the life cycle of the yellow grub for you.
