Hello.

To effectively protect the small Perch from the smallmouth bass.

I thought of making rolls with chicken wire like in the picture and closing the ends.

I would put these rolls in different place with a rope if I want to recover them.

It should work well but you may need to clean them every year or so as they may get growth on them.

Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:"
"She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

Hello.

That's why I tie them, they will also serve to protect the crayfish.

If the crayfish clean them as well as the rocks, maybe I would have less need to clean them.

I will make rolls of about 3 feet.

And when there are to many Yellow-perch I will remove them.

Crayfish at the correct density I think will keep the chicken wire structures clean. My question is will the small perch use the wire mesh cylinders as refuge? Several bass might patrol the cylinders and eat every perch going in and out of the cylinder.

Hello.

Mr Cody you have a good question.

I thought I had found a good idea, now I find it less good.

I have had baby Bluegill swim inside a cage that I had in the pond, and when they decided to swim out they were too big to fit through the mesh.

Hello.

Then I will leave the ends of the rolls open.

With these rolls I want to make bass hunting more difficult.

Hello.

The rollers will also be used to keep the spawning ground clean.

As can be seen in the picture the rocks are clean, this section will serve as a spawning ground for Smallmouth.

I want this spawning ground to remain clean all times especially during the spawning of the Smallmouth, that means without Filamentous algae and Scums.

The spring before the spawning I will remove the rollers.

Hello.

I think that when I will put bass the Crayfish will quickly decrease.

When in the evening I walk with a spotlight and I see few Crayfish because the Yellow-perch eats a lots.

I add 1Crayfish x feet.
