My pond still is 50% ice covered. getting warmer every day though with more day light! Can somebody recommend a good time to apply an algaecide? The overflow pipe has quite a bit of algae by it. Am thinking the first sunny day. Thank You

It depends on how badly you want an algae free pond. You will have different species of algae growing in different water temps - what is growing now won't be growing in the summer. Typically you apply the algaecide when the algae is actively growing. Since you have an overflow pipe, getting the MDNR to approve stocking of Tilapia will be difficult if not impossible, so you are stuck with algaecides.
