Hello. My Smallmouth bass pond for spawning. About 50x70 feet. The place for spawning is going to be about 6 feet, and will be dry in the summer. https://ibb.co/nQG03fHWhat do you thing. I think I will leave about 3-4 inches of water for the crayfish. A+

The proposed pond looks okay. Hopefully is works well for producing some smallmouth.

There is lots of good info here on SMB beds. Here isa pic of a natural SMB spawning and bed. Next to it out of the pic is a wood dock. Second is a rendition of the same type bed with wood added. SMB like a big anchor rock , small rock in the nest bottom and thick cover near by (log or wood)

Based on the small ones caught through the ice this past Saturday, my spawning sites continue to work well.

Through the ice by a friend with little jigs. I caught a big one during the summer with a hard crank bait, but then stopped fishing since it was hot and stressed the fish. The ones caught through the ice were only 8-10" so they had to be offspring. Nice fat fish. Update: I finally got the joke:)

Rod will be here all week.
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."
