Hi Everyone,
As I'm gathering some pond quotes for my build, some contractors stress the importance of keylining, and others, the importance of core trenching. If they know core trenching, they don't know keylining, and vice versa?
Is this just a language thing or is there a difference?
Thanks!

Never heard of keylining and quick Google search suggests that perhaps you should go with a contractor that knows about core trenching.

I don't remember where, it might of been the Missouri pond handbook, but I know I've heard of cutting a core trench being called keying the dam or something like that.

I agree with the term "keying the dam" is synonymous with coring a dam, but never heard of a keyline? Typically, one keys the core into the underlying clay.

Thanks! Ask them to explain Keylining to you. I've never heard of it.

A cross-section diagram of the dam would be illuminating.
