Anybody else experiencing difficulties securing rainbow trout this year? My usual source is trying hard, but it's been tough.

I place an order for trout in early spring and adjust the order as the season progresses. My supplier has seen less pounds produced this year, but more solids on the bottom of the facililty. He attributes that to lower lower FCR due to the supplier cutting ingredients but keeping the price the same - less food was converted to fish flesh. He will be doing a feed test early next year to eliminate that problem for next year.
His trout that were supposed to be 1# each were only running 3/4# this year.

Yep. Inflation doesn't only mean higher prices for the same stuff. Smaller packages, inferior ingredients, too.
