Rain dance worked, nearly two inches precip. Pond still low, but better than it was.

anthropic

Are you prepping for the typical late Fall/Winter invasion of the water-turkey?

I just stocked up on reflective tape, reflective scare rods, flying hawk decoy, giant eye, and a new gator decoy.

I throw everything at those fish eating evil birds!

I’m down about 3 to 4 ft

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Yikes! Do you plan to do any habitat enhancement while it's this low?

https://newatlas.com/military/ga-boeing-distributed-gain-high-energy-laser-weapon/

"General Atomics and Boeing have won a US Army contract to prototype their most powerful distributed-gain laser weapon to date: a groundbreaking 300-kW, solid-state, target-tracking beast that could fry enemy missiles and aircraft out of the air."

Zep, I intend to offer my pond's cormorants as testing targets. Free of charge because I am a true patriot!

If the Army turns down my offer, I'll mostly use the same strategy that worked fairly well last year: Sharp, resonant claps. Guess it sounds like gunshots to them, even those on the other side of the lake take off and are not in a hurry to return.

Make brush piles from Christmas trees. Only problem is that it might get this low again and then it looks ugly with the brush piles out of the water.

Might have to sink a well to keep it full. It's a groundwater pond.

I am down about two feet and that is the lowest it has been since the beginning of it. I could not wait any longer for mother nature to kick in with some rain so I turned on the water well. I am guessing I will need to run the well for about 3 months to get it back to normal. The cost to do that is around 400 bucks per month. I made the mistake to see how low it would get if I did not assist the pond this year. Did not expect the lack of rain to be where it is this fall.

Meanwhile, at my location, 0.25" shy of 12" for the month of October as measured by my tube rain gauge. My electronic one is suffering "issues". Pond is in a continuous state of overflow. My wettest month ever. For NYS, that used to be newsworthy, not now getting rather common. 4.25" in one 12 hour period.

negative 6" here in central MO, was close to -8" to 10" but we have had a few decent runoff fall rains.
