Not my pond, but fished a friends pond recently. This pond was stocked years ago, but has not been managed, fed, or anything for many years. My buddy and I fished it in our kayaks, and caught over 100, 1-2 pound bass. We also caught a few dinner plate sized bluegill. It was clear they needed to start culling them, so we helped out with that, and I have fish tacos for the next few weeks. We fished it over 2 days, and the last 30 minutes we were there, I caught the smallest fish I have ever hooked through the lip, but I also hooked up with a monster! Total weight was 8 pounds, and it measured 24" long, and is officially my personal best largemouth bass. Best part is, I caught it on an 1/8th ounce Roadrunner jig, that the mirror had broken off of, haha! Who says you need big bait to catch big fish?

I had also just installed my new GoPro mount on my kayak, so I got the whole thing on video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zHUbAFmYrWFqbSIpfNzbSbp6GYOwz8Hr/view?usp=sharing

Taking that many bass won't hurt the population? Must be a small pond where culling is needed.
Incredible catches needless to say. Congrats!

Small pond, medium pond, big pond, doesn't make a huge difference. If the LMB are out eating their forage base and your goal is to grow bigger bass, harvest is a crucial part of pond management.

Congratulations on an awesome bass! Looks like they have plenty of nice CNBG, too.

Agree ! Red = my edit.

All - Good learning point here based on the pics. A classic unmanaged LMB/BG pond in the south. Many small low RW LMB , a few ok (85 RW) midsize bass , some large BG and one or two very large dominant LMB (older females)

BTW nice catch and fish (LMB and BG).

Question BranClanFarm - did you see many mid sized BG (3-5 inch) ?

I must have missed your comment. To answer your question, I wasn't really looking in this particular pond. Surprisingly enough though, in the other ponds, I did see quite a bunch of spawning beds, and quite few smaller BG hiding up in the shallows.
