Great video!
Of course, the final touch would be to overdub Benny Hill's Yakety Sax soundtrack.

Well at my pond today...unfortunantly I dipped up a floating LMB. Saddest part was she was 5 3/4 pounds but ONLY 20 inch long. Relative weight was about 125%!!! Only dead fish I have seen in a VERY long time. water is almost 2 foot low and a beautiful emerald green color with near 36 inch visibility on sechi dish. She looked very healthy and no signs of trauma. i'm still not running my aeriation. Hoping that is not what caused it. Cooler weather is just around the corner! Pond has been over 3 foot low on several occasions with no fish kills but...I always had aeriation running. I might be shooting myself in the foot. I'm gambling I know but DANG the water is sooo pretty and clear!!

Yes Pat, I'm still feeding 3 bursts of feed in the AM and 3 bursts in the PM every single day. Records show I have caught 26 LMB just this year!! All were released. Best CATCHING year EVER!! Sooo much fun. I see 4-5 inch lmb in the shallows and have caught several 12 inch ones and many 3 pounders!! I know the BIG GIRLS are in there but don't want to hit my artificial lures. Hah! I finally got my clay banks covered with grass so no more muddy water!! Come on cool weather!!

I had ~50 BG caged up in the pond for a scheduled date with Mr. Flathead. 04:30 yesterday pulled the cage to transfer fish to the boat and the seam between the bottom and sidewall of the cage popped. All but two of the inmates escaped back into the pond.
And to celebrate their new-found freedom, the ungrateful little brats bit me bloody when I jumped in to cool off after getting home from the river.

Well now that sucks, instead of you getting full on FH the BG got a mouth full of Augie.. Oh well, life goes on, better luck next time, how did you do on the river?
All the really good ideas I've ever had came to me while I was milking a cow.

With no proper catfish bait in hand we switched to Plan B.
Launched at Bagnell and went bass fishing downstream from the ramp.
It was a good call. We didn't find the hybrids or white bass, but the black bass were more than willing to cooperate. We caught largemouth, spots, and several very nice smallmouth. First time I'd ever caught SMB that far up the Osage.
My buddy caught quite a few crappie, and a ~5lb smallmouth buffalo on a RoadRunner. Never seen that done before, either. lol
With only the house turbine running since last Thursday the river was as low as I've seen it. It would have been worth the trip even if the fish weren't biting. Now I've seen with my eyes what I'd only seen on sonar in the past. Saw some things that said "fish here" when the water is up, and saw some things that said "float on past" when the water is up.

Are you ever tempted to transfer river bass to your pond?

Had the water temp been <65°F rather than >80°F, the SMB that I caught in the river on Sunday would be swimming in my pond.
If fish could think, they would be thinking that they had been teleported by aliens to the big rock candy mountain.

I am pretty sure the fish would be correct about the "aliens", considering how they are sometimes subject to probing for sex identification, expression of eggs or milt, etc. I hope we make it up to them with a good supply of slow-swimming FHMs or floating feed pellets after they have been teleported!

I thought "FireIsHot" was just your screen name. I didn't realize it also referred to the surface temperature of your dock!
I hope all of your fish are also taking the day off and working on their tans. We certainly do not want any of them to suffer from Vitamin D deficiency!

I'm guessing the dock was barefoot blister hot.
The water surface temps were probably 97+, so nothing much goes on around here, fishing, spraying coontail, etc., until things cool down a bit. Summer is probably the worst season for anything but setting out brush piles around here.

I burned a brush pile here when it was about 102, because it was too hot to do anything else productive. It burned so hot with an 8 MPH wind that I got nervous, and I don't usually get nervous unless we are burning grass.
I think my new burn plan for brush piles is to only burn them when I see a big line of rainstorms on the radar about an hour away! Otherwise, I keep imagining a wind gust blowing an ember across the entire fire break, regardless of how much water I put on the pile.

Please be careful burning when conditions are dangerously dry. I had to put out 2 different fires in my fence row that were started by 2 different neighbors. One had left a fire burning and were not watching it, and the other was drunk. We had to ask a 3rd neighbor to put out a fire during a burn ban that they were not aware of. If our grasslands catch, things will get ugly very fast. We were lucky that when a 4th neighbor's house burned down it was very wet, because embers traveled a 1/4 mile into our place.

Couldn't agree more on the burn comments, RAH.
We can only burn here after calling in to the county emergency manager and getting approval!
I was burning during an approved time and the county had enough ground moisture that everyone's native grass was still green.
I don't think a 22 degree difference in air temperature while burning at 102 instead of 80 should make a significant difference in a brush pile fire, based on the high flame temperatures. Observing the fire, I think the big difference was the moisture content in the wood.
Usually the fluffy stuff sticking up in the air goes moderately fast right where I start the fire. The fire then progresses around the pile, and also downwards as the collapsing embers burn the bigger stuff at the bottom. It all takes a while and you can see the wood steaming and driving out water as the fire moves.
On the 102 degree day, the fire went around and down VERY quickly. With the whole pile burning at once, the chimney effect was very powerful and the fire was roaring as it was drawing in so much air.
I normally just babysit my brush pile fires. On that one, it felt like I was babysitting a rabid honey badger.
Trying to accomplish something when it was that hot, just increased my stress level. Usually, accomplishing something at the farm does just the opposite.

From about April/May on we don't dare light a match out in Utah, fire danger is so bad we probably can't look at burning anything until the snows come... Hope the snows come this year... Later J
