First year with the pond and learning all sorts of stuff. Can someone help me identify what the likely bloom is from the attached photo?

Water has been really clear through the Spring and about a week ago it started to bloom. Visibility is about 24" so it's not too thick at this point.

Is the greenish tinge only because it's being held in front of the green grass yard?

If it's actually green, I'd say phytoplankton. For the exact species, see Bill Cody and his extremely nice microscope.

I agree with Theo. Can't narrow it down to more than a "phytoplankton" bloom until it's looked at under a microscope.

The water has a very slight yellow/green tinge. The suspended bits are green. Kinda bummed we gave away the kid's microscope all those years ago.

I'm very interested to see how this all plays out on the pond!
