Thought I'd update the forum on the goings on of my pond. Had a full winter kill in 2019 due to insufficient aeration. In 2020 we replaced the old broken linear diaphragm with a 4 diffuser rocking piston aerator. Huge upgrade and we saw massive improvements in its effects. Muck was lower by at least 6 inches in some places in a matter of months if not weeks. Logs began to emerge from the muck and water became incredibly clear. With such great results it was time to stock again, but different this time. FHM had survived the winter kill so forage was not stocked but we did add LMB, PS, and YP. I know LMB without BG seems strange, but from the past experience with this pond I think it will work. There is a lot of alternative forage and I need a population of PS to cut down on the rampant snails. If I see issues with the predator prey relationship I will add BG later, but for now I want that WI state record Pumpkinseed .

With that goal in mind, I would harvest any LMB that you catch that is over 14" in length. That will allow the PS to grow bigger, and the YP too.

TPD's comment about logs may have simply meant that the logs became visible underwater after some of the muck began dissolving maybe?? Not that the logs actually floated to the surface. He did say emerged from the muck, not the water... Just a thought.

The logs were in the muck and the muck receded around them, bringing them into view but still on the bottom

I will add BG later, but for now I want that WI state record Pumpkinseed . Where are you getting Pumpkinseed from? All the fish came from Taal Lake Hatchery. Good prices and only had 3-4 DOA out of 300+ fish. The "state record" is a dream but not that unreasonable with some time and luck.
