To paraphrase Charlie Daniels:

"And Glazener, my buddy, above all the rest
I miss you the most and I liked you the best
And now that you're gone, I thank God I was blessed
Just to know you."

I seem to recall that we got George to sign his own hat.....before he knew it was for him.

Eric, George was very proud of that hat.

George gave me all his old slides, and I had them put on CDs for him. I found this pic buried amongst the thousands of pics he had accumulated over the years. This is a Florida Keys trip with Flip Pallot. He and Lefty Kreh are the GOATS of fly fishing.

I didn't get to know George well, but we had a few lengthy conversations and I'll always appreciate the time he took to share his wisdom.

Didn't George have a hand in designing the TFO mini-mag fly rod??

Yes. The 8/10 Mini Mag George tested was intended to go to Lefty, but he'd gotten snowed in, and TFO couldn't get the rod to him. I don't intend this to be an infomercial for TFO, but they're really good about getting new fly rods in the hands of guides and instructors for testing. I have a 5# TFO experimental fly rod that became the Esox. Not sure why they would give me one to test, but I'm not complaining.

Rusto, yes, George was one of an early group of people to put hybrid stripers in ponds.

And due to his scientific nature, he documented and communicated his experiences regarding the same to the Forum.

He may have been the one to coin the phrase 'ladder stocking.'

Here's some very old Lake Texoma pics. George understood seasonal baitfish migration, and caught stripers in epic numbers. To me, Mrs. G was the best fisherman of the 2, and I always reminded George of that.

Actually we were all blessed to know George !

Interesting when I was working with George to design some Pond Boss flies we were discussing colors. He said Mrs. G did all the color selection as he was effectively color blind.
