Can someone tell me if this is one of the bad invasive carp? My brother in law snagged it yesterday through the ice. ![[Linked Image from forums.pondboss.com]](https://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=16929&filename=IMG_1958.JPG)

No, it looks like a Buffalo fish to me. ![[Linked Image from biologydictionary.net]](https://biologydictionary.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/buffalo-1.jpg) Google "Ictiobus" It could be a Bigmouth Buffalo or a Smallmouth Buffalo

Yes - I agree a buffalo fish, I think without a close look it is probably a black buffalo. The 3 buffalo fish bigmouth & smallmouth and black in MN are sort of hard to tell apart. There are also hybrids of buffalo fish.

Here is a very good link for how to separate the 3 buffalo fish: smallmouth, bigmouth, and the black. Note the two pictures above are of different fish. The bottom picture has a summer open water background not a picture of the ice fishing snagged fish. http://obscureadventures.com/2020/0...lack-buffalo-how-to-tell-the-difference/
