Quick guidance needed please.
Small (tiny) lined pond in western Washington. Looking to add plants.
Considering Hornwort, Royal Pickerel rush, blue iris, possibly variegated celery and some hardy lilies
Lots of resources recommend Hornwort as good option but others have noted it as invasive. Can anyone give guidance and/or better recommendation?
I'd like to try putting some trout in, so if they are incompatible this would be useful to know also.

Many thanks

Hornwort is Coontail, which a lot of pond owners try to eradicate. If it goes crazy, controlling it will be problematic with trout in the pond.

What water temperature will the pond be in the middle of summer?

Any type of eel grass, or any of the Potamogeton species would be better, and more easily controlled if you don't like them in the pond. Will you be placing the plants in the pond in containers, or is the liner covered with dirt?

Thanks esshup,

I'm new to this and open to suggestion. Will be covering the first ~10ft of liner with Geotech fabric which has an open weave to allow plants to gain foothold. I have no plans to back fill liner with dirt. I wanted to go as deep as possible (to achieve more stable summer water temps), so sides are pretty steep, although its a tiny pond at 30x53ft. I'm guessing (because I have no local datapoints), that summer temps may hit mid 70s but i'm guessing. I will check out eel grass as an an alternate.
thanks
Beardy
