Hello,
I discovered these articles: https://www.medakanoouchi.com/howto/overwintering.html.en

and https://books.google.cz/books?id=z6...age&q=Outdoor%20breeding&f=false

and this interesting discussion
https://aquariumforum-ost.de/forum/...i-ken-wildform-im-gartenteich-in-berlin/

Does anyone have experience with overwintering Medaka under Ice? I also found videos on youtube in Japanese about their overwintering under the ice, but I would be more interested in your personal experiences grin

Never heard of them but look interesting

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Wikipedia on Medaka for anyone who is interested in Medaka but also as ignorant as I am.

From this position of ignorance, I'd want the Northern variety if I was overwintering Medaka under ice.
