Sounds like a good time at the pond Zep. I discovered my mystery fish is a Tp that survived the winter. Got a good look at this large male Tp. Surprised it survived the winter. And the Osprey was back at the pond yesterday, maybe because I did not see the B. Eagle yesterday. I'm sure it is around because I see it most everyday. Zep, otters, Osprey and B. Eagles and Kingfisher's do a lot of my culling.
Do not judge me by the politicians in my City, State or Federal Government.
Not today but last weekend. Replaced handrails on the dock and starting on the deck as time allows. Kids and Grandkids had a blast. Cant seem to post the pics but I'll work on it
It's true hard work never killed anybody, but I figure, why take the chance? Ronald Reagan _______________ The good Brian
Drained forage pond into main BOW. Fun to watch! Caught 5 to 6 lb HSB and LMB, both looked very healthy with good relative weight. Harvested six smaller LMB.
Geese have (finally) left, five wood ducks remain. Hopefully we'll see some little woodies soon.

Bushy pondweed getting to be a nuisance.
What happens? Bust ups everywhere? Need some video of this for next year pleeeeeeeeeeease
Seen my 1st ball of fry last night. I cant say how big it was because the water is so cloudy. It was about 2 foot in size and very dark. I would say they might have been up to half inch in size. No clue what they were but was pretty cool to see anyway.

Caught a 7" BH on a shallow-med depth diving 3" hard crankbait. It was not foul hooked. I did not know BH are that aggressive. Still very few YOY BG being caught in cloverleaf traps, no GSH and rarely LMB. Last year all three were regularly trapped. Some days there are 10+/- BG that were stocked last year. I've removed several pond record BH in the last week using cut GSF. One had a crawfish and old hook in its stomach. 2 of the last 3 appeared to have already spawned. Although visibility is about 15" the only beds I see are small GSF. Maybe the BG are bedded deeper. I hope. This weekend I will be building a large tube/torpedo trap per recommendation from Bob to remove large BH more efficiently. Updates to follow and perhaps mass production!

How are you going to know unless you try!
NW TX 2ac main pond fed from 1100ac watershed going through 2 2+ac sediment ponds. 1st filled 10/2018 900BG, 200RES, 200HBG, 100CC and 23# FHM...."Free" BH, GSF GSH, LMB & ??? 75LMB 3/2020 I subscribe!
As far as I know I don't have any bullheads in there. Bass, crappie, some kinda sunfish, 2 grass carp, 3 koi, catfish. I would guess they were bass but not sure they were small. I will try to net some up in the next few days. Curiosity will kill a cat.
Lol they showed up along with some kind of carp looking thing, scrappy fellas for their size. Someone really likes me to stock LMB BH and lil carp...... no greenies tho
Walked the pond after today's rain. Found the fry ball again. So I went n got a little net and got me some. Not sure if the are big enough for an ID or not. I'm no fish IDer so I'm not 100% sure but im thinking bass.

Yikes. I've heard that LMB will control BH numbers, but maybe not always

In my case the LMB eat all the crappie and leave me the bullheads!

Definitely NOT bullheads . Yeah, I agree, they're bass.

Our old refurbished pond was full of GSF and BH. Can hardly catch one now. Could hardly keep them off the line a couple years ago. The LMB have definitely cleaned them up.
Went up to the pond yesterday evening and saw schools of FHM fry that weren't present last Sunday.
Today is 11 weeks since I stocked my 0.4A pond, which included 10lb of FHM.
Its pretty darn cool to see the ecosystem starting to establish itself, especially after seeing what seemed to be thousands of frog eggs and then at least hundreds of tadpoles as we placed rip-rap over the last couple weeks.
I'm wondering if my BG/HBG were hitting some of the FHM fry as they swam near the surface, I was seeing a lot more surface activity out of the sunfish away from my feeder than usual.
