Hi I just bought a house in January with a spring fed pond. We have seepage on in our dam from tree roots. I am new to owning a pond. Is there any way to fix this without removing the trees?
Thanks

I really doubt it.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

DanG, this is a tough problem. I’m not sure how much you have searched around in the archives of Pond Boss on this subject, but most of the people posting about Pond construction and renovation agree there is no good solution. It is widely agreed that if you have large trees on the levee, it is better to leave them alone than kill them. If the tree and roots die, the problem will likely get worse. So if the inflow keeps up with the loss from seepage, you’re probably better off leaving them. Ultimately, however, be prepared to replace the levee to correct the problem.
