We’ve caught over a dozen females in the last few days. Only kept one. I’m thinking I may have had more than two ribbons that I saw.

9 yr old pond, 1 ac, 15' deep.
RES, YP, GS, FHM (no longer), HBG (going away), SMB, and HSB (only one seen in 5 yrs) Restocked HSB (2020) Have seen one of these.
I think that's about all I should put in my little pond.

A couple weeks ago I moved my very neglected bees 30mi to my pond property. It's a miracle they survived last year. Since I have no idea how old the queen is I went ahead with replacing her and moving everyone into a fancy cedar hive. The old hive had rotten holes in it. They were very cooperative and polite. I expected a few strings even with a suit on but not one even tried!
Trying imgur for the first time.

Another beekeeper! Have you found HoneyBeeSuite? Rusty, the proprietor, is a gifted writer, scientifically trained, very observant and knowledgeable, and well respected.

I installed two packages of bees into my two top bar hives a week and a half ago. For 2 days after beeing hived, the girls were out walking the muddy shorelines of the pond getting water. Seems that the travel from Utah made them quite thirsty.

That's a beautiful hive you have there. Is it a Langstroth with a fancy top, or a Warre, a Valhalla? I can't really tell from the pic.

I miss my bees. I had 8 colonies when I married 30 years ago. Found out that new wife was extremely allergic to stings so they had to go.

There have been times.........

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Started up my aeration but discovered I'm not getting any bubbles from any of the six diffusers. Checked 1800 ' of air line for leaks but discovered the problem may be under water. Pain in the ass to get things up and running again and at best it will take me a couple or three days to find the problem.

The last few days I started seeing FHM in spawning colors. I'm sure the little LMB I stocked last weekend will be happy to see more FHM.

Sunk several more cedar trees. Last few days we’ve caught a lot of SMB and YP. Enough to make me think both are doing well. So I thought I’d try to help the GS and all the recent hatches survive.

Old pump jack above the sediment pond hasn't been used in 10yrs. It was covered up mesquites. Figured if were stuck with an old pump may as well be able to see it. Cleared about 30 mesquites from around it yesterday. The boss asked to keep the 2 large trees. Now the fun of dragging brush begins...

Caught ten or twelve LMB plus one nice RBK in three hours with my son & grandson. Three LMB were too big to keep, we filleted most of the others. Beautiful, sweet white meat!

Geese and wood ducks have discovered feeder in forage pond. Spreads out the pressure some but I'm not delighted. PLEASE make sinking food!

I like the look and the shade of trees around the pond, but I know they pull a lot of water out, and they sure dump in a lot of leaves. This time of year it’s the pollen and the flowers. Still, it’s the clearest my water has ever been.
Pollen and flowers all pushed into a corner.

our leaves are just starting to poke through the buds making the branches look 'fuzzy'. You are quite a bit ahead of us with the pollen and leaves. Soon our water will be floating green like yours. The leaves are no fun to rake but the trees are nice to have around. Looks good!

Did you decide to add walleye or HSB next?

I spent the better part of Saturday treating my tan colored pond with alum. Secchi disk reading went from 8" to 36" by the time I was done. With windy conditions the next day, I was dismayed to see only 24", but realized I could see the the downwind side was very clear and you could see a distinct line in the water between real clear and less so. Evidently the wind blew the best water over to that side, kind of turning the pond over. The day after that things seemed to be uniform and I could see the secchi disc spin at 40". Hopefully this lasts a long time!
