No.

I hope not to.

Hope to build one some time. They are very beneficial critters, especially in my area where no poisonous snakes reside.

azteca,

Cool pic!

Your original post is from two years ago. Did you build a hibernaculum, or find a natural hibernaculum?

Either way, do you think the same snakes are using it every year?

I probably wouldn't mind that sort of water snake. Not to suggest I like snakes in any sense of the word (feel free to peruse my old posts on the topic! laugh ) but these guys don't look nearly as bad as our northern water snakes which, horrifically, bear a very close resemblance to copperheads and have caused me more than one near heart attack over the years! These guys look more...friendly. If that can actually be said about any snake!

I have to agree with Todd. Azteca's pictures have a somewhat bucolic nature to them. They lack the nightmarish aspects that can be found in any other hibernaculum....or Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Look like plain old garter snakes to me. We've got a red banded garter snake that hangs around. Pretty little thing & I am NOT a snake person. Not scared of 'em, just no desire to touch 'em.
