We are looking to have a get together this Apr. We finally got the last piece needed for the project that I have been trying to finish.

So, here is the plan:

We are looking at two different weekends in APR. Yes there is a higher chance of rain, but hey, these are ponds filled with water, so that is how it goes.

Rules:
You must be a Pond boss Magazine subscriber.
You must be here on the forum and,
You must be a good person!

These have been a blast in the past and I expect this one to be a lot of fun.

Plan on a few projects, fishing, and other water related activities.

Once we have a primary date, the plans should be easy to finish.

Thanks Brian. Appreciate you doing this again. The highflyer knows how to host a party! I hope to attend if it's not the weekend of April 4th.

I would love to come down but we're still milking WAE if it's the first week of April.

I'd be interested and would be happy to bring something to eat or drink. Are wives allowed?

Looks like the weekend of the 4th and 11th (Easter)are out. We will look at the weekend of the 18th for starters.

Spouses are always welcome.

After we get a nominal head count, we will see what might be needed.

Would have loved to have made it, but we already have plane tickets to Sulawesi to go scuba diving in that time period.

The rest of you have fun!

Considering Rule #3, are you making an exception for FireIsHot??

I am always fascinated by the direction these threads go.

We will use a relaxed interpretation of "good person" for this get together.

Also, Nicky is planning on being at this gathering, she is a lot of fun, and a great person. If you have not met her, this is your chance.

Heck, most of my fun in life has involved:

Hold my beer and watch this.
Wanna bet?
Man, that looks like fun.
Do you know who you're talking to?
Of course I like tequila.

These things have also wound up with contusions, involvement with constabulary, and copious infusions of cash.

Wow, that's a grand offer! The wife and I need to see more of east Texas and meet more pond crazy folk (as evidenced above, lol). Attended Bob's Pondology in October, now I understand the difference between us, in San Antonio, experiencing an hour of thunderstorms, and the same cold front storm system extending a hundred miles along the EastTx/Ok border.
But it was the best of times...a small crowd, new friends, grand hosting, fabulous food, fishing, and "projects" of a minor nature.

'Ole Guvnor Davidson's Exclusive Case Study Guide on 'How Not to Get Invited Back (..and not invited at all):'

"Hold my beer and watch this.
Wanna bet?
Man, that looks like fun.

Of course I like tequila."

And more stories like "when Guvnor Davidson met a young man who wanted to get into the fountain aeration business, and proceeded to tell him that fountain aerators were worthless and then just walked away leaving Allen Hall and Sunil to help the young man pick up the pieces of his shattered dreams."

That was a moment. Didn't take us long to access the situation and steer him towards B Lusk.

That was a fun PB conference.

I still maintain that fountains are useless for aeration. I see them like I do race horses and beauty contest winners. Nice to look at but don't do a lick of work.

The poor kid needed encouragement and guidance. You could see the gleam in the kid's eyes as he approached Guvnor Davidson. I think the kid knew who Guv was, and thus sought out his advice....and support.

While giving Guv's opinion of Fountain Aeration was a five-finger death punch to the young kid, Guv just walking away after that was maybe too much.

just curious, will there be t-shirts like the last one? I got more comments about my t-shirt. People asked a lot of questions about Pond Boss!! I have almost wore the lettering out of mine! Wish I had another one!!

Wow Flame that's cool to hear. I kind of doubt I will do the t-shirts this time. We never know how many people are going to show up and most of all sizing is a nightmare...and of course the expense. I did the t-shirt thing for two Pond Boss get-togethers...and might be retired from that. I am pretty sure I still have some of those shirts brand new so if you let me know your size I might still have one.

Mark,
There will be cameras with different vantage points available.

AR and Mark, About the food, let's get a head count going then we can see about the food.

Lance,
Great to hear from you as well. Looking forward to the gathering.

I too still wear my shirt from time to time. I might have one or two extras around if Mark doesn't.

Okay it's time to start getting more serious about attendance numbers. If possible, can I get head count. You are welcome to say maybe, or I believe, etc.

I do need to start coordinating food, drinks and other activities. And there is going to be a reveal.

If the date is Saturday April 18th I plan on attending and will most likely be solo.

Always look forward to visiting the HighFlyer ranch.

If weather forces a change to April 25th I am ok on that date as well.

Thanks Brian!

I "should" have my ankle monitor removed by then and be able to attend, but it all depends on the judge.

If any of you guys/gals attending are interested in fly fishing for BG or LMB/HSB, I "may" be available to show you some tricks that make rigging up less of a PITA. No fancy Orvis fly fishing vests or $600 Simms waders required. LMB and BG aren't as picky as trout, so no reason to overspend to enjoy slinging a fly.

Mark,

The 18th of APR is the day. Rain or Shine.

Allen,

Do you want me to put in a good word with the judge? Also, thanks for the offer to teach tossing flies. Your demonstrated patience is perfect for that endeavor.

As for the rest of you, chime in, it is time to start getting the numbers solidified.

I have been lurking for a while and would enjoying meeting some of the posters and joining the East Texas BOW community. I have a 10 acre lake stocked with CNBG, FHM and FLMB in Zan Zandt County.

Cliff,

If you meet the three requirements (see the first post in this thread), you are invited! Always good to meet new members of the pondboss family.

During the warmer months I was catching 3 or 4 in a couple of hours. Since winter I am lucky to catch more then one. As the water warms up I hope the catch rate will increase.

As a side note, My BOW is 10 acres and I only stocked 650 fingerlings. I am hoping to get my first spawn this spring. BOW record is 3.14 lbs caught on a Texas rigged worm in Nov 19.

I just learned that an event I'm committed to work has been rescheduled to April 18th. My wife and I will not be able to come to the gathering. I'm really disappointed. I was looking forward to meeting you good people.

AR,

Thanks for the update. I understand, and with all the goings on, you might not miss it if we have to reschedule.

I would give anything to meet a bunch of you guys, and maybe learn a few fly fishing tricks, two out of the three requirements shouldn't be too bad, but I wont be able to commit to it at this time, the spring has been too wet for me to get much done in my line of work so I better be available for work if possible, and its right in the heart of Crappie, Turkey and Mushroom season if I do get a spare minute. if it were closer I would sure make every effort. Have a good time guys, as I am sure you will! sorry to miss it!

All,

I think it is in everyones best interest to postpone our gathering. Clearly as things ebb and flow, any gathering, no matter how fun, should be delayed for now. When this passes, we will evaluate our options.

You made the right call, Brian. A shame, but now just isn't the right time.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Yeah it is getting crazy around here in the stores and things shutting up. A few cases of the virus popping up in the area. We were supposed to go to Indonesia for 6 weeks on April 5th but of course that is a no go.

Maybe if Brian reschedules later in the year I can make it.

Brian, how are things going with you and the lake? Happy water ? Fishing? And I'm guessing you are in the skies transporting needed things from around the country and the world?

Tracy,

The pond is doing well. We are here working on projects. That part of my life is good.

Flying has been surreal. You could make a Zombie apocalypse movie in any of the cities I have been in. Lots of people all over the world are nervous. The good news, if there is any, is that this will pass, but it is not going to be pretty.

I can't wait for normal to return. I bet I am not alone on that one.

Brian it's good to here that your @ the pond and flying also. I miss being behind a yoke. But lots of good memories in the skies. Hoping we can all get together again soon. How is your Tp room? Raising many of them? For me it won't be long before I make a trip to Overtons for Tp. My Fa is the worst I have ever seen .
