I know during normal spawning activity, female BG outnumber males significantly. Its apparent in my pond as I seldom catch what I can easily call a male (using the squared eartab as reference). Is there any information that indentifies what that ratio percentage is? Is it 90% female / 10% male? Higher? Lower?

Is this ratio also seen in other species, such as LMB or RES?

BG are 50/50. Females during the spawn seek to mate with the largest males with the nests near the center of the spawning colony. The larger males suppress spawning by smaller males.

Thanks for the info Eric. I'm curious as to why I seem to mostly catch females. Seldom an identifiable male.
