I just replaced the battery on my Texas hunter feeder the other day and thought it was working fine. But we have been gone for 7 days on a vacation and this morning I went down to watch the feeder go off and nothing happened. I set it for a test feed for 5 seconds and it worked great. It says battery is good. I tried resetting the feed times but still does not work. The clock on the timer seems to be keeping accurate time but still won't sling feed. Does it sound like it is just time to replace the timer?? Do I have to go to Texas Hunter to get one? Can I use a aftermarket from somewhere like Tractor Supply? How would I know I am getting the right one? Is there anything else that could be causing the problem? I have never replaced the timer so it is 3-4 years old.

Flame, you can send the timer back to TH, and they'll test it for you. If you decide to go with another timer, make sure it can control both motors. Since it's only spinning one plate, I'm not sure a timer on a corn feeder will work.

First thing I would do is replace the battery, and if you have a solar charger, be sure and disconnect it from the timer also. The second thing I would do is make sure the throw wheel isn't binding. Food dust accumulates between the wheel and the housing, and it can drain a battery in a few days. I had a TH feeder that worked intermittently because of the dust.

Thanks guys. Pat I was just getting ready to text you when I saw you responded. I did a little research and found TH timers have a 5 year warranty. You probably know I keep almost daily logs of everything to do with my pond. I installed the feeder 7/18/2015....so only about 3 1/2 years old. I will get in touch with Todd. Thanks Al, have you sent one back under warranty? What kind of turn around?

Flame I haven't, but if it's under warranty, it shouldn't take long for them to test the timer. I've ordered motors and timers before, and they didn't take long to get here.

Let us know what you find out.

Al, I got a big surprise when I researched their 5 year warranty rules. The 2nd-5th year of use they will repair or replace the timer but....customer has to pay $73 for replacement and shipping charges!!!! That's the price of a Brand New One on sale!! Wow. Don't understand how that is a warranty.

Update... a new timer is on sale for $149. The $79 on sale is for their universal deer feeder. So I guess under warranty you get one for 1/2 price of a new one. This info came right off of TH Feeder's official website.
