I wanted to follow up with you all about the pond we had built and thank you all again for the advice.

Anyway, I went with the Lake Doctor (Doug Stinson) as my pond builder and he has done an outstanding job. He is not actually complete, but is going to come back when we get a little more moisture so he can pack the rest of the dam and dress the pond up. I’m going to try to post a couple of pics of my pond (well pond without water). Leave it to me to have a pond built and have the driest September on record in our area.

Both of these pics are from the dam and looking down two sides of the pond. You can’t tell depth, but you do get an idea of layout. The pond is shaped like an “A” with a flat top as the dam and our house sets between the bottom of the legs of this “A”. This thing was nothing but woods when we began so Doug had quite a task to make our dream pond. I’ll follow up as the Lake Doctor completes the pond and it fills.

Anyway, here is the follow up pics:

Here is a look at one side looking toward the dam. The dates on the pictures are bogus -- my camera battery went dead.

Ha Ha Big -- leave it to me to have a pond built and forget to order some rain. We have not had a drop in a month or more. Those two sides are both drainages and combined they collect about 15 or so acres of higher ground runoff(that you can't really see in the picture). When we get a big rain it will roll in pretty good, but only during good rains (it should take some time).

Looks good.
I've got pictures of me on my ATV on the bottom of my pond/dry hole.
My 12' deep one acre pond was built last September in southern IN which was also dry, but not this dry. It only has about four acres of runoff but has several springs and it was full and running over the spillway in 7 months. It leaks a little and has lost about a foot of water so far this DRY summer, but it fills back up quick when we get rain.
