Can someone please help identify what I have growing in my pond in central VA? It’s shown up this year in a couple patches. It’s in water about 5 feet deep. My shore is all native plants but this is new. I’m not sure if I should be worried. The fish are enjoying the couple patches right now.
It is definitely not algae. Try to get a similar picture of it in a dish or pan of water so the leaves can lay out in a natural "pose" as in underwater.

Sorry for the delay. We have a new addition to the family that has consumed a lot of time.
Allayched ate some photos of my weed in the pond. I’m thinking maybe I need a couple grass carp as long as they leave my native plants mostly alone. I don’t have any emergents that I put in on purpose.
I googled pictures or FA and looked around here but it doesn’t seem like that. It’s not goopy looking or really clumps. Could it be chara? Would grass carp eat it?
It doesn’t smell but my nose isn’t the best. Here are more pictures in the water. Geese are gone for now. I’m thinking they are what loaded me up with the nutrients for it to take off. I’m still leaning towards nitella?
Fry love the stuff so I don’t want it all gone. I’m debating grass carp. I’m just wondering if they’d survive the hungry bass hoard.
