1 acre pond that is 1 yr old. 8 ft deep max. Boys were swimming in the pond yesterday and the Chara is pretty widespread. At the 5 ft depth, the Chara was 8-12 inches below the surface (4+ ft tall--the water must be fairly clear). I'm not too worried-I'll let nature/nutrient balance even things out over the years, but I don't read a lot about what else will compete w/ Chara for that deeper growth zone (4-8 feet deep). And the more important question-do I want any of those things or should I be thankful Chara is filling that niche?
