We have all heard of "Monster Catfish" at the base of dam, and divers so rattled they would not go back down, or even pulling the air cable up and no man at the other end.
So has anyone ever took an aqua vu cam, to see if any of this is true, but it may be to dark for the cam to see.
We all know there is most likley a big fish down there, but I mean like a two or three hundred pounder or even bigger.
The best story I have heard is that there is a cat at the base of the dam at some lake (no name of lake that is why it is a story) that is as big as a bus. When they open the dam he opens his mouth and filters all the fish that come through. Amazing to think of but more than likley not true.
But back to my point, the Discovery Channel has minni sub's they can take to the bottom of the dam, then we will all know the truth. They could go to the base of five or six dams and make a show. I know I would not only watch it but most likley buy the tape.
So if anyone knows some one that happens to have access to a sub (thats a big IF) or knows some one at the Discovery Channel, tell them to pick me up and lets go fishing.
Someone please support me or at least tell me your "Munster Catfish" story, and if you would watch the show.

I have heard similar stories like this as well. Can't imagine them true, I would think someone would have caught one by now...The Largest cat I have heard of is the one that was caught in Texas and put in that tank..

Those are sure big fish, but I think they are european fish, or wells cats. I am talking about a big blue or flathead. None the less I would not wanna be at the bottom of a lake with those beasts!

I don~t know anyone at the Discovery Channel. But I am pretty good friend with a guy who spoke with one of these divers. He was going down the anchor line to retrieve outboard motor and felt unusual suction on his face. When he turned on the light, he was staring face to face with a catfish than had mouth opening bigger than his head. I think the first picture would qualify for that. I would have to ask him if he was just around, or if he still knows the diver. I think it was Lake Travis here in Texas. I don~t think these fish are that rare, but I would like to see a special on them.

I am telling you in south carolina and Georgia I have heard these same stories over and over again I am more of the factual scientific type, but I don't know....I really would like for someone to investigate this...

Ed- Yup, it was Lake Travis - I heard the same story. Not that anyone would embellish... but the diver I heard about reached out to move a cedar fence post on the bottom and it moved when he touched it - YEIKES!!! Then came the suction... It would be pretty neat to put a sub at the base of the dam, but then the waterskiers would never come back - even though they don't realize that you would never see the dorsal fin approaching from behind the skier...they would just vanish in a big splash from below like floating fishfood. Hey, maybe even a movie... "WHISKERS"
