I saw the strangest fish in the pond today it looked like a bred out male FHM but on closer inspection (with binoculars lol) it looked like a young bowfin with a head injury. It jumped out of the water then sat belly up on the surface. When I returned, ready to capture it, it was gone. Could it have been a "rotting" FHM like when salmon spawn? Or do i have an invader? Will go back in search of it today.

sounds like it could have been a spawned out and dying FHM.

I'd agree, it may have been a weird FHM.

This is funny as I was just talking about mudminnows and I find not 1 but 2 in my pond.
