Does this calculation just approximate the total gallons the pond holds?

We surveyed our pond with high accuracy GPS before it was filled and know exactly how many gallons it holds. Wondering if I should use that as a figure or do this formula.

Bdog,

IMO....Yes the calculation is an approximation. Most folks don't have the more accurate data on their pond as you have. Use your actual measurements. Keep in mind that pond configuration also plays a role when designing an aeration system. A system designed for a big bowl will be different from one designed for an odd shaped pond with frequent depth changes.

Thanks.

Mine is a big bowl. It covers 14,894 square feet at the surface (just over 1/3 acre), is 16' deep in the middle and holds 685,732 gallons. It has a plastic liner and the water level is maintained with a well.

Attached is a contour map of it.

What would you recommend for aeration?

I have a 1 acre 0pond that's pretty much bowl shaped 10 feet deep max.

I have a 0523 Gast 1/3 horsepower pump. 80 feet of weighted hose going to a platform with 2 or 3 diffusers. 9 inch fine bubble diffusers. Vertex makes a good diffuser with built in check valves so you don't have to worry about water coming back up your line.

Do some reading in the Air section on this forum a lot of great info there for sure!!!

Once you get ready to pull the trigger holler at Bill Cody he may be able to help you out with parts and all or know who you can contact for the correct parts! He knows his stuff!!! Or holler at esshup I'm sure he could help you out too.

The only difference between a rut and a Grave is the depth. So get up get out of that rut and get moving!! Time to work!!
