I am not sure what to do here. I have a pond (or tank as it is called here in West Texas) that has leaked down to less than a foot of water in the deepest part. Grant it I live in West Texas, Abilene to be exact, and we have not had allot of rain this year. Should a 1 acre tank, I'm sorry pond, loose all it's water in less than 4 months? It has an average deepth of about 4 feet around the shore, and 8 to 10 feet around the damn. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Justin,
I think the best thing for you to do is talk to your county agent and find out your rainfall and evaportation rates for your area. This will be a good starting point to answering your question.
Since your weather has been unusually dry in the last few years, it may simply be a weather/soil combination issue. Too little rain, too dry soil.
This is such a hard question to answer without more history on the pond or knowing the soil type.

Hello Justin Case.I love that handle it made my day with a good laugh. There is some factors that you might consider when you think about evapor.1 if you have a fountain then the water that you send up in the air is going to evap.3times faster then it would without the fountain. Also if you have a liner then you have a leak.Sometimes the ground water gets lower and the pressure on the outside of the liner decreases and makes the pressure of the pond an easy escape route, through seams or weak spots in the liner. Also there may be outside sources that have puntured or caused a leak such as tree roots or voids in the soil around the liner that when the aquafer pressure went down it allowed the liner to move and cause your problem.I hope this gives you a few hints on what to look for and hope everything turns out good for you.DOC
