The wife should love it! Send pics of her with her first fish caught from it!

Al, the old "original" Skeeter bass boats are bringing big bucks for some! I will definantly take pictures of our first voyage and first fish caught out of the boat. Sad part is I have a 20 ft Skeeter sitting in the garage and never gets used!!

Flame, I have the same problem. 1978, 20 ft Ranger that I haven't used in many years. Very first of the Pro fishing models. I license and tag it every year and buy batteries about as often.

Wife keeps hammering me to sell it. I once told her that I have had the boat longer than I've had her and the boat stays. That shut her up for several years. But, gotta admit that she's right.

Nice job CMM. I am particularly fond of that era of bass boat. I loved the cigar boats with stick steering.

I am a statistic to the dangers of front stick steering. In a old tiny kingfisher bass boat I was cruising full speed when the back of my seat broke!! Only thing I had ahold of was ... you guessed it. The stick steering. As I fell to the floor I pulled the steering into a sharp full speed circle!! Almost killed everyone on the boat before I could crawl back up to kill the engine. No, didn't have a safety kill switch back then. They were notorious for breaking steering cables also which also got me in a bad bind once!!

Never let go of the steering handle. As we crossed Hugo lake in S E Okla. BIL let go of the stick with a 40 on the back of the boat. We both wound up being thrown to the bottom of the boat when he managed to kick the throttle to reduce the speed to where he could get out of the bottom of the boat and kill the engine. Was something to experience. Never LET GO OF THE HANDLE !!!

I was fishing a creek that ran into the old Lake Terrel at Elmo. Had a stick steering boat of some kind. The weather got rough but the fish were biting. When I headed back it was rough. One wave hit and went over me and hit my Brother in the back seat. We made it in but that was unforgettable.

Another view of Flames rebuild. Doesn't that just look so fishable?

Nice job on the rebuild, Flame!

Did you use gel-coat or automotive paint to refinish her?

Thanks everyone. It is just automotive paint. Nothing fancy at all. Just wanted it to look a little nice while down at the pond. I plan to leave it in the water. If it gets rained in I have electricity to the pontoon boat dock and a little giant pump I will drop in it. Bob-O I was going to go with twin engine ( 2 batteries instead of 1) but decided I just couldn't handle the horsepower!!! Thanks CMM for the photo again.
