Here is our new pond in the catskills mountains of New York. We started last year almost one year ago before the drought broke in September. There were many frustrations as the weather turned against us with tropical storms and lots of snow and spring rains afterward. The excavation got going finally in Early July when we got a break in the weather. Just made it as we have gotten lots of rain since and we are now about 1/2 half full now. Frogs and tadpoles have moved in already and the water is starting to clear. On more good rain and we should reach 100%. The pond when full should be about 1 acre and maximun depth of 14 feet. Patience is important with these projects. Needless to say I'm very happy witth results so far. Just need to finish grade and seeding of shore line and areas where fill was placed. Here is a link to the latest photos from this week: http://www.ofoto.com/I.jsp?c=n8oli27.76qyunbb&x=0&y=yuexxc Notice the deer like our project as well. Most important part of a project like this that you get someone who knows what they are doing to manage the project. I am using Scott Trava of Catskill Feed and Grain and could not be happier. Have seen the mess that others have made that Scott has been called in to fix and it is not pretty. Pond Photos

The pond looks great, and if we keep getting the weather we have been it should be full in no time.I've been trying to get a crush run driveway in for months, but it's been way to wet. Glad to see all this rain has been good for someone.Since your using Scott Trava, maybe you could ask him something? He was quoted in the May/June 2002 issue of Pond Boss as saying New York State gives out free trout if you bring two large clean garbage cans. Can you ask him if this is still true? If so where? When? Who do you have to contact?
Thanks Jimmy

I'll be talking with him this week and try to remember to ask. I will not be putting trout in mine pond as I don't think there will be enough circulation to support trout. Planning on making it a bass pond.
