They certainly like your conditions! I would need to move about 10 miles to my south to get more acid soils which they prefer. Good luck with keeping those pesky deer off of them! This will be my fourth spring adding chestnut trees. Browsing hasn't been an issue at all... But they will walk past five billion other trees to rub these. It's got to be because they smell different. Like they'll get lucky because they're the only buck on the hill that smells like chestnut? Stopped up after work tonight. About a dozen deer in hitting the turnips, most I've ever seen together here... Was great to see!
