I need a relative weight chart for res in ounces. I have found them in 10ths of pounds but would like one in ounces.Anybody have one? I caught a 8 inch res that weighed 6.2 ounces. What would the relative weight be?

Flame, I get a Wr for your fish at 97%

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Flame, sounds like you are have some RES growing pretty good at your place. I have only caught two last spring at my place and both were pretty small @ 4". I hope mine are growing as good as yours. Caught mine on a top water fly ( chartreuse chugger type fly), what are u using to catch yours ?

Good morning Tracy, My wife caught this one. I measured and weighed it on a nice digital postal scale. It was caught near the dock in 5 and 1/2 ft. water. Bobber set at about 3 foot depth, tiny hook with a bright yellow piece of a curltail grub for bait. Back on August 20th I caught one 7 1/2 inch that weighed 6 ounces on a black and white tiny beetle spin with a hot pink curltail grub. It was out by some of my homemade pvc "trees" in about 7 ft. water. It actually hit it like a bass...attacked it while it was still falling to the bottom!! We use all artificial bait. We started using whole kernel can corn but found they will hit a tiny pellet size piece of yellow plastic worm just as well and you never have to change your bait. These res were 2 inches when stocked on February 20th this year.Been feeding Cargill food since day one.

Flame, I thought the res would not feed on the pellets unless they were pellet trained. But as I understand it, yours are feeding on pellets? Did u manage to train some up?

Tracy,I don't know if they are feeding on pellets or not. When the fish boil under the feeder I can't tell what kind they are.I may have trained some from day one feeding but did not in a separate "barrel". Whatever they are doing they are doing it on their own. I only stocked 400 of them 2 inches long. Maybe Todd Overton had them pellet trained before I got them.I rarely catch a res and I have caught hundreds of my cnbg. I measure and weigh everything I catch and keep good records. All I know is the 8 inch res was only 2 inches 8 months ago!!....Thank you guys for the charts.

Don't just about all hatchery fish start out feed trained?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
