7 years ago the Man rescued me from a near death experience after tangling with a badger.

I had six excellent years with the Man. Thanks, Man!

One year ago I tangled with another badger (could have been the same one; they all look alike). This final badger war ended in my earthly demise.

Up here in Cat Heaven everything works again and there are lots of cute females to hang with. I am happy and very busy.

Signing off,

Tan

It doesn't sound like Rest In Peace is appropriate here. Seems like you have other plans than resting. I have really enjoyed your cat like, and human like posts.

Now just do what tom cat angels do.

Tan you must have been one tough dude to even consider tangling with a badger!

RIP Tan!

RIP TAN. I'm sure you had the best life with the Man, as he had with you.

When I made the Owl nummies comment, I didn't mean you or the vast majority of your kind, but only a few.

So, will you please call off that Black Cat that's stalking me when I get home? It's been showing up here ever since then. Walks in front of me when I go out back. Sits on a log just staring at me, with who knows what evil intent. eek

Took you a year to get an internet connection up in the Big House???

You had your ninth life a year ago???

I wondered when I didnt' get a Happy Arbor Day card from you.

Go easy, Tan.

Oh my! This is like a fishbone stuck in my heart.

I don't plan to tell my great friend and fuzzy buddy "Igor". I'm not sure what it might do to him. He came to us after several years as a homeless cat, on the city streets, where one of our elderly relatives lived.

I catnapped Igor off the city streets about the same time that Tan adopted "The Man".

My good friend Igor endured several horrible snowy and extremely cold winters, and was in the midst of an awful body-zapping daily 100+ degrees summer when I decided he might like to live with us in the more temperate mountains.

Since Igor came to Catmandoo Farm, he has regained his sense of love, humor, and health. He loves living much like his mentor and hero -- Tan. The tractor, UTV, chicken coop, ponds, and much more are under his auspices. He jumps in the UPS truck as soon as our friendly UPS driver stops the truck.

This is a very sad day. We will all miss Tan-- I'm sure this even involves our good friend Sunil!

RIP Tan.

Catmandoo and Igor

Tan,

Angel and Megan, our two little girl kitties we picked up at a humane society in Asia, ask that you save them a spot in your harem. They say you sound like just the kind of guy they have been looking to hook up with!

Thanks.

If anyone wants a cat the humane shelters have lots. Rows and rows of cages. From kittens to adults. Many are terrified when you walk past them.

All because people are too irresponsible to neuter their cats. (If they don't want kittens).

I agree, adopt a pet. On our road trip yesterday the kids watched a movie (A Dog named Christmas) If you haven't watched it in a while, a great movie. Wholesome, no bad music, cursing or sexually promiscuous scenes, a great job of tying in flashbacks from Vietnam into the plot and sending a strong reminder of how pets can help heal those PTSD scars, etc.

Also gives a strong message to adopt pets! Our dog isn't perfect by any means but we are much happier that he gets free roam around our house and can sleep in our warm garage and meet us every time we go and come than the alternative, being part of an unwanted barnyard litter of puppies in another state!

Every cat and dog we've had over the last 40 years have all been "rescues". Except for a young and fairly sickly feral kitten that adopted us, all the ones we've gotten from veterinarian's offices or shelters have been wonderful pets.

God Bless you too!

My last dog was a naughty dog by most peoples standards but I found it endearing! I miss her more than the well behaved dogs I've had.

Same here and I have not regretted it one time. I actually think those critters know you saved them and are more affectionate and well behaved. I also still think Mutts are the smartest breed of any species!

When I was a kid growing up on the farm, a local fertilize/tankage company maintained a barn out in the middle of nowhere where you could bring dead livestock and drop them off. The smell was incredible. I would hold my breath from the time I got out of the truck till the time I got back in. I remember seeing piles of dead dogs and cats from the local humane society/animal pound that never got adopted and were put down. Ever since, I have always gotten my pets from the humane society and had every last one of them spayed or neutered!

Luna was not a rescue, but I let her be herself since I got her as a pup. Not much discipline at all, just a tad bit of direction up front and she knew. She was free to do whatever she wanted and lived her life as she wanted, but we had quite a bond that would be difficult to replace!

Been thinking about another lab.

Dad has this dog that he did get from a rescue shelter about 4+ years ago and it was about 6mo old at the time.

I've only been up here for a few months now and dad says Astra only mopes around all day until I get home. Well, ya lock up a dog in a small cage... Figure that out!!!

She is taking onto some of the training and coming along, but slow.

Astra was also beaten severely by the previous owners and it's no wonder she is afraid of her own shadow.

My dad has no clue.

Having trouble typing this with 1 1/2 cats in my lap.
A local stray that was hanging out by the house adopted my daughter a few months back.
Stupid cat would come out when she called it and then chase her around like a dog.
We brought her inside and then took her to the vet for a checkup/spaying.
Turns out she was pregnant, 1 kitten.

So I now have 1 1/2 cats, and may be down to one if the little bugger doesn't stop gnawing on power cords.

I tried explaining to him that I do not like the smell of smoldering cat, but he doesn't listen too well.

Actually he listens pretty well, you call him and he will come out of hiding, yell at them to stop something and they actually do.

A couple of the friendliest cats I have ever had, and I grew up in a house full of cats (shelter family).

This place is a lot more fun with them around, haven't had a cat in over 10 years, wife was allergic.

She just started allergy shots this year and they seem to be working great, used to walk in my folks house (down to 1 cat) and would get red eyed instantly.

She now sleeps with 2 cats, sometimes with the kitten curled up under her arm, and no allergy problem.

These 2 are spoiled rotten and have us trained rather well.

My two little cats must think they won the lottery. They were in a small cage and I don't think they had ever been out side or even run around. Their 1st day was spent inside but when I took them out the next day they were very nervous about stepping onto the grass -tip-toed out on it like it was bubble wrap. Doing well now and seem very happy and real friendly.

I wouldn't mind getting a kitten, but I'm not sure I could trust my Akita with it. I watched her instantly kill a muskrat.
