Just an FYI: A while I posted a message on here about MN's Citizen Lake-Monitoring Program. Bob wanted me to follow up with more information, so here it is. This likely varies from state to state, but in Minnesota, anyone can be a lake monitor. I monitor the 30 acre pond behind my house. The state will send you a secchi disk and instructions, and then you will typically take readings every couple of weeks. At the end of the season, you submit your results, and after a few months, your pond will be in your state Water Quality Annual Report.

I have posted the annual report on my pond home page.

Check it out. It is a great way to monitor your progress.

Bob:

Welcome to the Pond Boss b-board.

Florida has a similar program to yours, called LakeWatch.

Volunteers like you take regular readings and file them with a state agency linked to the University of Florida, methinks. In that country, the main concern is nutrient-loading and resulting outbreaks of aquatic vegetation, especially hydrilla, salvinia molesta and other intrusive exotics.

Thanks for chiming in.

Mr. Pondidy

Are you supplying the photo's and everything else as well for the info site on this pond/lake?

I ask because it seems like someone is getting overly blessed. Gorgeous lake and all...
