I have noticed one or two of my tilapia have developed the facial characteristics of Walter Matthau, jowls. I would see one from time to time, probably starting about 5 months after the first stocking, but,I had never caught one until today then I caught two in a row. Both seemed fine, good color and conformation except for the jowls. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this defect? I should have taken a picture but both were cooked almost as soon as they were netted.

Rad if you start to develop jowls we will know it is a transferable genetic trait. After all , as the saying says -- you are what you eat -- ugggh. \:D ;\)

I told my wife and her mother that my daugher seemed to resemble Walter Matthau back when she was about 6 months old.

Needless to say, it didn't go over very well.

Nonetheless, she did look like him when she was unhappy.

Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:"
"She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

Some friends and relatives had a Churchill and a Jean-Luc Picard. Lucky for them, they're not fish or they would hang on my wall.

My Dad has told me for my entire life that I started out looking like Peter Lorre.

When I was little, my nickname was "Toad." It was not due to any amphibious qualities.

Rad asked for it when he used the thread title: Walter Matthau.

He might has well name the thread "Talk about things other than my question, please".

Gee thanks for all the fine advise.
ewest, They looked weird so I fed them to the neighbors and I will keep an eye on them. If they start jowling out I'll put up a for sale sign.
I didn't expect much help, my description was vague, I will get a picture next time.
