We have a couple of ponds in our neighborhood. They are mainly decorative, but do have fish. We'd like to add a floating fountain to each pond. The purpose would again be mainly for decoration, but we're thinking a litle aeration might not hurt.

One of the ponds is only about a half-acre and 75 feet across. The other pond is about 1.5 acres and 150 feet across.

Our budget is pretty tight - we're hoping to stay under $1000 for each fountain, with lights. We've already got easy access to electrical.

Would you please recommend some fountains that might fit our needs? Any general tips when selecting/installing a fountain?

Thanks!

Well I'm a newby too and have the same questions. Out of the dozens of companies that manufacture fountains all seem the think theirs is vastly superior and the rest of them are not worth buying. I too would like to hear from some members who own floating fountains. My budget is a little higher. It seems like all roads lead to kasco but man they are pricey.

Welcome to Pond boss guys. Not many of us use fountains since we are generally more interested in aeration for pond/fish health. And fountains are little more than ornamental.

Hopefully, somebody will come along with experience.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I just ordered a fountain because my wife has wanted one since we have owned the pond.. Our pond is set directly behind our house with is on the edge of town, kind of residential..

Pond is right at a half acre, went with a 1/2 hp with lights.. Will have more info on it next week when it comes in and I get it installed.. It is supposed to move 4200 GPH of water which is a fair amount for a decorative fountain.. I already have an air powered diffuser and a wind powered, but feel a little top water can't hurt..

Update on the fountain.. Came in yesterday, was pleasantly surprised by the shipping time and customer service of the company I bought it from..

Now for the not so pleasant surprise.. Not overly impressed with the display of it.. Have tried a couple of different adjustments on the center v nozzle and still not impressed.. The pond is east of our house and you can barely see the spray of the v at the suggested setting when the sun is going down... Changed to the arch nozzle and still looks kind of rinky dink.. The only time I can say it looks somewhat impressive is at dark when the lights are on..

Not sure what I expected, but for the money these things cost in both purchasing and cost of operation I would expect more.. I guess I will continue to play with it and maybe contact the company to see their suggestions..

Your experience is similar to mine, not much display for the cost. I bought mine for the same reason you bought yours, perhaps the best reason yet. My wife wanted one.

Check out Nashville Pond. www.nashvillepond.com They are an OEM that I have been buying from for about a year now (I run a Landscape business), and they do a great job. Quality craftsmanship and great customer service.
