Hello, We have stocked rainbow trout in a 25 acre former sand pit. The depth is up to 45 feet deep in the deepest part. The pit is groundwater and spring fed. I would like to create an inlet, pumping water from the bottom of the pit through a fake inlet back into the pit in order to create a spawning area for the trout. Do you have any thoughts on constructing the inlet?

Welcome tgecpa,
Sounds like a cool project. Do you have an area in mind in the pit? Pictures would help us get an idea of the feasibility of it. I don't know much about trout spawning but I would think you would need a sizable area(.5-1 acres) to make it worth the effort.
