I have read a lot about adding crawdads to the pond for forage . I can get a few thousand in a few minutes but they are the borrowing kind and i have seen where someone said not to add them ,My question is whats the down side ?

Burrowing crawdads can make holes in your dam. That is the drawback.
It has been my observation that somehow crawdads eventually make it into almost every pond. I haven't ever fished a pond that didn't have them.
I just bought a piece of land here in Georgia and there are crawdad tunnels in a low spot between to hills in my pasture. So, they will find you LOL.
