Got a strange thing going on. At the pond yesterday and noticed in the shallow end little bass 3-6" long chasing who knows what. A bunch of them cruising. Baited up with a shinner and caught 5 ranging from 3-6" and one 13" one. Can bass have multiple spawns in one year. I watched the YOY bass last spring go from 1" up to 8-10" in the growing season. Now it's march , what are those little bass - retards that grew slow or another spawn?

Clueless

Pat I don't know about multiple from the same fish, but I have seen fish spawning in February and in June of the same year on the same lake.

My guess is that they are last years late spawn LMB that just grew slow.

Here is Nebraska I have seen LMB spawn as early as mid April and as late as the 3rd week in June.

That does seem odd.
Of course I don't know how the bass got in my pond, but all but one has been within two inches of each other in length.

But I guess that if some were spawned in late February and then some in early to mid June, the could make a big difference.
