Does anyone have any left-over Cutrine-Plus liquid that they can give me about one cup (8 ounces) for some toxicity tests for zooplankton? If you have a little Cutrine_Plus to spare for science please contact me by using the email icon at the top of this post. I'm too cheap to spend $30+ dollars for a whole gallon when I need just several ounces. Thanks. BC

Bill I don't want to discourage you from your test, but maybe this will save you some work. I spoke with our state biologist just last week about cutrine and phytoplankton. My question to him was: Will cutrine affect phytoplankton since it is an algae? YES! Do not use cutrine when you have or want a phytoplankton bloom. He suggested using it only if you do not have a bloom yet,ie: before you start fertilizing in the spring. If you would like to contact him he is John Pitre and his e-mail address is john.pitre@la.usda.gov

Bill,
Call Kelly Duffie. He probably has some somewhere, or knows who does.

Bob - The testing is to depend myself and to dispute some of what Kelly has stated about the affects of Curtine. Hopefully the test results will educate us all. I will call him before resorting to paying for a whole gallon. BC

Bill - I don't recall exactly what I said that prompted your investigation. But, maybe saving you some time, CUTRINE (and most other copper products) will kill many forms of algae - including plankton. If I insinuated otherwise, I was mistaken. On the other hand, CUTRINE may be judiciously used to control filamentous algae growths along pond perimeters and have negligible impact on established plankton blooms - unless my observations are a Texas-only phenomenon. If you wish to verify LC-50s, I'll send you a sample. Email me an address. KD
