that she passes quickly and painlessly from this life to the next. She's in renal failure and her bone marrow is no longer producing red blood cells. She wants no hospital care and just wants to die in peace in her home. It's amazing she's still alive but she has very deep faith and is tough as nails.
I couldn't have asked for a better mother-in-law as she never meddled and accepted me as a son-in-law with no hesitation. And of course I have my wife to thank her for.

Cecil, you and yours are in my prayers.
When my mother, sister and brother were in that situation(cancer and/or ALS) I thought of Kenny Rogers song about the gambler. "The best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep." I hope she passes peacefully.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Stay strong and supportive to your wife. Without medical care things will be more painful. Is hospice an option? Definitely supportive of the wife. People forget how stressful it can be on family members and care givers. She has a nurse and nurse's aid come in and her children are keeping tabs on her. I talked to my mother-in-law this morning on the phone. She was eating breakfast but said it may come back up in about 5 hours. I'm amazed she can be up and around with her test results. She does get out of breath, tires easily, her legs are swelled, and sleeps a lot. And she can't walk very far. Choking up I told her what a wonderful mother-in-law she had been.

My father refused to go anywhere and died in his easy chair. It was what he wanted, but it is very hard on the family, even with hospice, to deal with all the issues. At the Throne of Mercy on behalf of your family. My mother-in-law has the dubious distinction of having worked as a coder, receptionist, and other jobs in the medical field. She was very good at it and had it all memorized. Unfortunately she's seen enough to have a distrust of many in the field. Granted there are a lot of honest, trustworthy, hardworking people in the field. But she witnessed some really bad characters over the years. Had one doctor that was angry with her for not double billing. She turned him in. And lots of other things like errors that cost people their lives.
