I recently talked with a sand mining company that has some oil leakage into one of their ponds. I would think that a sediment sample would be necessary. What about the water? Has anyone had experience with this. we have an enzyme product that should help break down the oil, what about a bacteria on the market or other chemicals? Any help would be appreciated. Robert B

We had a customer last year that bought property with a oil tainted pond. Most of the oil settled in the shallow part and into pond sediment a company came in treated the water with a chemical the pond was drained. They removed approx18" of soil and burned it at a cost of 350.00 dollars a yard. The only advise i gave was to let the pond stay empty for a year and let it breathe. Still has a smell of fuel oil even after the dredging. Good luck with finding a solution I was not to thrilled with the outcome of the chemical application and wattles used. I believe Frank spent over 10,000 dollars on the project. He asked me for a bill for my help I told him send me a christmas card.
There must be a chemical engineer within these pages or spill control specialist that could advise Good Luck Wood D Chuck

Thanks Scott, I know they have some bacteria somewhere that targets oil. I remember hearing it during the Exxon spill. Going to test for PAH's and PVOC's. Will let you know. Robert
